'International SOS Children's Village Day' observed in all SOS Children's Villages in Bangladesh located in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna, Bagerhat, Chittagong, Bogra and Sylhet in a befitting manner.
On that occasion, SOS Children's Village Dhaka arranged a 'Get-together' Programme for former boys and girls of the Village where in total 100 former children along with their spouses and children were attended, passed time in their SOS families and shared their feelings. They all expressed their happiness to attend in such a nice gathering. Many of them become overwhelmed and emotional in presence of lot of near and dear ones of their generation as well as new generation. A discussion session was held on that occasion and the programme was ended with a cultural function staged by the children of the Village. SOS Youth Village Dhaka and SOS Vocational Training Centre Dhaka arranged sports competition on that occasion.
SOS Children's Village Chittagong organized 5-day long series programme on that occasion. A seminar on "SOS Children's Village - a model of family-based child care" was arranged where Ms. KhadizaAkhter, Lecturer, AgrabadMohila College. Chittagong presented the key note paper. Professor Dr.AnupamSen, Vice-Chancellor, Premier University, Chittagong attended the seminar as chief guest. An Open Art Competition was arranged where 700 children from different institutions participated. Mr. HashiChakraborty, Ex. Principal, Charukala College, Chittagong attended as chief guest. Sports competition, football match, etc. are also took place. In concluding function held on 23 June, a 'Big Children's Party'and 'SOS Children's Village Exhibition' held in the Village where Mr. Md. SerajulHuq Khan, Divisional Commissioner, Chittagong was attend as chief guest.In the children's party, children from different institutions presented their performance- songs, recitation, drama and dance. SOS related information, poster, children's art works, handicrafts, video show, etc. were displayed in the exhibition.
On 21 June, Vice-Chancellor of Khulna University Prof. Dr. Saifuddin Shahopened the 3 days long programme of SOS Children's Village Khulna as chief guest. Exhibition of handicrafts items prepared by the children as well as agricultural stall were also opened on that occasion. Children's art competition was held at SOS Hermann GmeinerSchool Khulna. Discussion session was held on life of Hermann Gmeiner in SOS Youth House Khulna. The session was ended with a cultural function by the youngsters. Children of both SOS Children's Village and Youth House participated sports competition. A wall magazine was also published. Consequently, SOS Social Center Khulna arranged teachers-student gathering and distributed gifts among the brilliant students under Family Strengthening Program (FSP). The concluding programme - 'discussion session, prize giving and cultural function' was held on 23 with lot of joy and enthusiasm.
SOS Children's Village Rajshahi, Bogra and Sylhet also observed the day through discussion session, sports and other competition among children, tree plantation programme and cultural function and other programmes.
