SOS Social Centre Chattogram is a community-based programme, which plays a vital role for the development of the children, mother, family and the community. It has been started in the year 1989 in the premises of SOS Children’s Village Chattogram. Through Social Centre, we have been providing Family Strengthening Programme and Skill Training. Family Strengthening Programme focuses on the care and support of vulnerable children who are at risk of losing parental care. There are 492 children from 344 families in the family strengthening programme.
SOS Hermann Gmeiner School Chattogram (Preparatory to Class - V) started its journey from 1992 as an ancillary project of SOS Children’s Village Chattogram. It provides quality education of the children and acts as a bridge between SOS Children’s Village and community.At present 286 students are studying in school.
SOS Youth Village Chattogram was set up in the year 1997 at Block – L, Halishahar Housing Estate Chattogram as an ancillary project of SOS Children’s Village Chattogram to ensure support and guidance for preparing young adults towards self-reliance. SOS Youth Care programmes offer young people a variety of support in the fields of education, training and accommodation. Now 59 youngsters are under the care of SOS Youth Village.
SOS Vocational Training Centre Chattogram has been established in the premises of SOS Youth Village in 1998 to provide Vocational Training to the SOS boys and particular target group of school dropout poor youths of the society. There are one year training in Carpentry and Light Engine Mechanics Trades for 30 students. Till now 495 students successfully completed the course from the Vocational Training Centre Chattogram.
