SOS Children’s Village Chattogram stands in the peaceful neighborhood of Halishahar Housing Estate. Chattogram, often referred to as the Commercial Capital of Bangladesh, is the country’s most important seaport and a vital hub for trade and industry.
Construction of the Village began in 1986, and it was officially inaugurated on November 23, 1989 by the then Honorable President of Bangladesh, Lt. General H.M. Ershad. The inauguration ceremony was further honored by the presence of Mr. Helmut Kutin, now Honorary President of SOS Children’s Villages International.
SOS Children’s Village Chattogram comprises 12 family houses, providing a secure and nurturing home for 72 children. Each house is guided by a devoted SOS mother, creating a loving family environment where children of different ages can grow up together with care, respect, and dignity.
Over the years, the Village has proudly helped hundreds of participants successfully integrate into society, a testament to its lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable children. With a focus on long-term, family-like care, the Village continues to empower children through love, education, and support, helping them become confident and capable individuals.
